What industries are mass flow meters suitable for? What is the difference from a volumetric flow meter?

A mass flow meter is a continuous measurement of the flow rate of a test medium and is expressed in weight engineering units such as kilograms or tons. It cannot control traffic. Only mass flow of liquid or gas can be detected, and the flow can be output via analog voltage, current, or serial communication. However, mass flow controllers are instruments that can detect and control at the same time.

The mass flow meter directly measures the mass flow rate of the medium passing through the flow meter, measures the density of the medium, and indirectly measures the temperature of the medium.

The transmitter is an intelligent instrument with a microcontroller as the core, so based on the above three basic quantities, more than 12 parameters can be derived for users to use. The mass flow meter has flexible configuration, strong functions and high cost performance. It is a new generation of flow meter. The main scope of use of mass flow meters:

1. It is mainly used to measure the mass flow rate, total amount and density of the medium. It can measure the volume flow rate and total amount, medium temperature, water content, alcohol accuracy, concentration of two relatively uniform liquids, raw material ratio in the process, etc.

2. Mainly used in the petroleum industry, such as crude oil production, water content, single well production, crude oil transportation measurement, chemical industry, food industry, pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, liquid pharmaceutical production, paper industry (such as pulp, fiber printing and dyeing industry, energy transportation, liquefied gas volume, green industry).

3. This flow meter can play a very effective role in material and batch measurement of various feeds, measurement and control of material flow in the process, rapid multiple density measurement, product quality monitoring, etc.

As the degree of automation increases, new requirements are placed on flow measurement in many production processes. The chemical reaction process is controlled by the mass (rather than the volume) of the raw materials. The heating and cooling effects of steam and air flow are also proportional to the mass flow rate. Strict control of product quality, accurate cost accounting, control of fuel quantities for aircraft and missiles, and accurate mass flow measurement are also required. Therefore, the mass flow meter is an important flow measurement instrument.

The difference between mass flow meter and volume flow meter.

Mass flow meters can directly measure mass flow, dynamically detect density, and directly measure volume flow without correction, while volume flow meters can only directly measure volume flow. For example, if a fixed density value is provided when measuring mass flow, density cannot be dynamically detected and accuracy decreases. Mass flow meters are expensive and accurate in measurement, while volumetric flow meters are cheap, but you can convert between the two. If the unit has no money, you can choose volume flow and convert it from software to mass flow representation. Mass flow meters measure gases independently of temperature and pressure.

Mass flow meters are not affected by temperature, so volumetric flow meters cannot. It is recommended to choose a measurement or mass flow meter, and if used for process control, volumetric flow can be used at reduced costs.
