Coriolis mass flow meter selection criteria

Coriolis Mass Flow MeterAnd positive displacement flow meter are independent of the velocity curve, whereas all other measuring devices are dependent on the velocity curve and therefore require straight upstream and downstream pipe lengths.

Coriolis mass flow meters are commonly used in high viscosity and fouling services as well as fuel line services. Coriolis mass flow meters that require heat tracing should be included as part of the original instrument design and should be constructed and tested only during the manufacturer's work.

The instrument is usually purchased with probes, transmitters, interconnecting cables, etc., or any other accessories required to make the system complete.

Mass flow meters are capable of calculating field density and measuring flow fluid temperature in conjunction with temperature sensors. Flow meter electronics often have the ability to calculate volumetric flow.

Mass flow meters should have high vibration resistance. The meter output should not be affected by vibration of the pipe where the meter is installed.

Size standard:

The nominal aperture of the sensor is equal to or smaller than the pipe size. The pressure and temperature ratings of the sensor tube and the process connection of the flow meter should be checked so that the selected meter is suitable for the operating conditions of the fluid material.

Flow meters can have the following required specifications:

Working principle: vibrating tube type

Tube Construction Material: SS316L or better, depending on service

Flow meter Accuracy: +/- 0.2% of liquid service mass flow

+/- 0.5% of gas/steam service mass flow

Flow meter Repeatability: +/- 0.1% of liquid service mass flow

+/- 0.25% of gas/steam service mass flow
