Analysis of the differences between Doweston ultrasonic level gauge and radar level gauge

First let's take a look at the ultrasonic liquid level meter

In use, we generally refer to sound waves with frequencies greater than 20kHz as ultrasonic waves. Ultrasonic wave is a kind of mechanical wave, that is, the propagation process of mechanical vibration in elastic media. It has the characteristics of high frequency, short wavelength, small diffraction phenomenon, and good directivity. Its propagation direction can be determined by light. Ultrasonic waves have very little attenuation in liquids and solids and have strong penetrating ability. Especially in opaque solids, ultrasonic waves can penetrate tens of meters long. When they come into contact with impurities or interfaces, there will be obvious reflections. Ultrasonic liquid level meters take advantage of this feature.

In ultrasonic testing technology, no matter what kind of ultrasonic instrument it is, it is necessary to convert electrical energy into ultrasonic waves and emit them, then receive them back and convert them into electrical signals. The device that performs this function is called an ultrasonic transducer, also known as a probe. Place the ultrasonic transducer under the liquid being measured and emit ultrasonic waves downward.

Ultrasonic waves pass through the air medium and are reflected back when they encounter the water surface. They are received by the transducer and converted into electrical signals. After the electronic detection part detects the signal, it converts it into a liquid level signal for display and output.

According to the propagation principle of ultrasonic waves in the medium, under certain conditions such as medium pressure, temperature, density, humidity, etc., the propagation speed of ultrasonic waves in the medium is constant. Therefore, when measuring the sending and receiving time required for ultrasonic waves to encounter reflections from the liquid surface, the distance the ultrasonic waves pass through can be converted, that is, the liquid level data can be obtained.

There is a blind spot in ultrasound. When installing an ultrasonic liquid level meter, the distance between the sensor installation position and the liquid being measured must be calculated.
