Title: How do pharmaceutical companies build smart factories? Key technologies and practical strategies

With the further advancement of my country's "Industry 4.0" and "Made in China 2025" strategies, the pharmaceutical industry, as a key area of intelligent upgrading, is accelerating its transformation into intelligent factories. Intelligent chemical factories do not only rely on information systems, but cover the entire process of pharmaceutical production, from raw materials to packaging. They rely on high-end intelligent equipment, combined with advanced technologies such as informatization, big data, and cloud processing, and are deeply integrated with pharmaceutical production processes to achieve intelligent production that is flexible, efficient, high-quality, safe (following GMP standards), energy-saving and environmentally friendly, and can closely connect with the supply chain and customers through the Internet to practice the "cloud" manufacturing model.

According to the "White Paper on Intelligent Manufacturing in China's Pharmaceutical Industry (2020 Edition)", the intelligent manufacturing system architecture of pharmaceutical companies consists of four parts: equipment layer, control layer, business management layer and operation management layer. The equipment layer includes automated operating equipment and sensors to realize the generation and collection of underlying data; the control layer connects to the equipment layer, integrates data, initially implements visual management, and configures a primary cross-device management system; the business management layer realizes integrated intelligent manufacturing business management by integrating MES, WMS, LIMS, QMS and other systems; the operation management layer covers the entire chain and realizes intelligent decision-making and global optimization through comprehensive interconnection with other levels of systems.

The key technologies of intelligent pharmaceutical factories include enterprise Internet of Things, intelligent production equipment, robotics, intelligent sensor technology, GMP-compliant intelligent management systems, big data analysis technology, cloud computing technology, Internet and intelligent factory integration technology, and data security technology. Through IoT technology, pharmaceutical companies can open up the data chain of the entire production process and achieve intelligent management and big data analysis.

Future pharmaceutical smart factories will aim to meet GMP requirements, efficient and high-quality production, use robotics to reduce costs, integrate intelligent management systems and equipment, optimize production with big data, intelligent product traceability, remote intelligent services and intelligent logistics. Among them, the hard core is the intelligent upgrading and transformation of production equipment, such as workstations, robots replacing labor, and the application of intelligent sensors on the Internet of Things; the soft core is the establishment of a safe and efficient intelligent management system to ensure the authenticity and reliability of data and implement strict data security management.

At present, many leading domestic biopharmaceutical companies such as Baifan Biotech have successfully deployed intelligent factories. Taking the intelligent non-intersection production base in Shanghai Lingang New Area as an example, they have ensured high-standard, high-efficiency production and management by adopting advanced intelligent equipment and management systems.

The construction of intelligent chemical plants is not only a key path for the transformation and upgrading of pharmaceutical companies, but also an inevitable choice for building the company's core competitiveness and promoting long-term development. Despite facing challenges such as standardization, safety and high costs, pharmaceutical companies will gradually move towards a new era of smart factories through scientific planning and technological innovation.
